Working in media and being the daughter of two retired military parents, I travel often. I’ve had the chance to visit and live in several states. This year I flew to Los Angeles for the first time!
I’ve always thought of LA as this easy going, perfect weather, happy atmosphere kind of place … and you know what… I was RIGHT!
The second my mom and I got off the plane in LA the skies were blue, it was sunny but not crazy HOT like in the Carolina’s, and there was the perfect amount of breeze. It felt like this every day!
I was able to sight see! Mom and I decided to go on a Hollywood Tour that gives you a view of the Hollywood sign, celebrity homes, and rodeo drive. The tour took about an hour almost two. Our tour guide was fun, if you’re out in LA and have a desire to see the house Katy Perry bought up on the hill then you’ll love the tour we took!
During the day I got the chance to visit the beach in Santa Monica! The beach was full of people, lots of activity on the pier, I loved every second.
Visiting LA was such an exciting and eye opening experience. LA has a way of inspiring you to be your best while also encouraging to enjoy life while you’re at it. I think at times we think that going into “grind mode” means your personal life or personal happiness has to suffer. I’ll admit I thought that way at one point. But being in LA you see the hustle and bustle of the day but you don’t feel its impact. The city, the people, the experience of being in LA inspired and relaxed me!
I had another trip planned to New Orleans following my stop to LA. So I decided to swing by the Rent the Runway store to get a few things for the trip! I got the cutest dresses and a jumpsuit!

“There are flowers for those who want to see them” mom and I found this sign while doing some shopping in Topanga, CA
( yes Topanga like the girl from Boy Meets World ha ha )
Mom is my best friend and I loved sharing this “travel first” with her! She and I went to Las Vegas for the first time together for new years and had a blast. I encourage anyone who wants to enjoy the motivation thats comes from a big city, but also wants to feel relaxed, then hop on a flight to LA. We flew with American Airlines and managed to snag tickets for under $600.
